14.12.23, at 19:30 – a concert at the TAK Theater in Shaan: LELÉKA and special guest Maxim Berezhnyuk!
LELÉKA is a young multinational jazz quartet created around the Ukrainian singer Victoria Leleka. Their music is based on ancient folk songs from the singer’s homeland, Ukraine, which the group puts into a modern jazz form.
Jazz primarily forms the creative basis of their music, where chamber-jazz and folklore elements are harmoniously added, and Leleka follows folk motifs melodically. The result is music full of magical brilliance and radiance, which both reflects happy rhythms and sounds like longing.
For the concert in TAK, the band invited a famous Ukrainian flute virtuoso Maxim Berezhnyuk from Kyiv. Together they will present a new program with Ukrainian carols and shchedrivkas, where Maksym will play 11 different ancient Ukrainian folk wind instruments.
LELÉKA are the winners of the European festival Burghausen Jazz Prize, the music competition Creole Berlin and nominated as the “Group of the Year” by the German National Jazz Award 2022.
